How to Make your own Aloe Vera Gel?

Step by Step on how to make your aloe vera gel for hair and skin.

  1. First, using a sharp knife remove the base off the leaf as well as the serrated edges of the leaf off. Soak it in fresh water for a few minutes. This process will help eliminate a chemical from the plant called aloin, this chemical often causes allergies such as itching, redness and bitterness. (Don’t skip this step, it is very important to eliminate this chemical from the leaf.)
  2. While the aloe vera pieces are soaking, with a knife remove the thin outer layer from the leaf on both sides.
  3. At this point, you will have a gelatinous substance. You can simply rinse it off to remove any remaining aloin or soak it in clean water for a few more minutes.
  4. For use in hair treatment or face mask simply puree the aloe gel in the blender.
  5. To help maintain the aloe gel fresh and for future uses, pour the gel into ice cube trays and freeze it. It will lasts for 3 months frozen.
  6. When ready to use, thaw it at room temperature and mix it with your favorite ingredients or hair mask.
